Can We Survive Without These Innovations?

We all know we are heading for an environmental disaster. The question is what needs to be done to avoid this disaster on planet earth?

The answer is we need huge increases of renewable energy and other innovations to create their positive impact in the coming 10 years:

✅ Materials science and Nanotechnology:
They created computer ICs, smartphone displays, and lithium-ion batteries. This trend will deliver major breakthroughs in electric car batteries, make solar energy more affordable, and deliver other advances that will make the world a better place.

✅ Renewable Energy sources (Solar, Wind, Hydrogen):
Need to add more than 800 GW of renewable power by 2030.

✅ Electric Vehicles:
Add 145 million electric vehicles by 2030 to replace fossil fuel vehicles and retire more than 20% of freight boats that distribute fossil fuel.

✅ Various behavioural changes:

- Increase of space cooling temperatures to 24-25 degrees C and reduction of space heating temperatures to 20 degrees C by 2030

- Increase plastic collection to more than 25% by 2030

- Drive less, walk/bike more, and use more public transportation

- Eat less beef and consume more vegetables

All the above 4 major initiatives will reduce the CO2 emissions by 1/3 or more of the total (Approx 12 Giga Tones reduction) which is a huge number.

✅ Growth of Internet of Things (IoT) Solutions:
From devices like smart TVs, watches, and thermostats to smart factories and offices to entire smart cities, the spaces around us must increasingly be equipped with the ability to monitor what’s going on and act accordingly. IoT will help the world to run more efficient operations, reducing energy consumption and avoiding waste!

✅ Datafication of our world and Artificial Intelligence (AI):
Ubiquitous computing and the IoT are both huge contributors to the huge volume of data that’s being generated daily. Businesses must use this data to design better products and services, improve business processes and enhance decision making. Data-based decisions using AI will make our operations and lives more efficient contributing to the sustainability of our world.

✅ Virtual reality, Augmented reality:
Personalized experiences for customers and employees. The use of virtual reality will change the way we interact with the world and will help us to reduce transportation and the use of resources that pollute the world.

✅ 3D Printing:
Anything plastic, metal, powder, concrete, liquid, or even entire houses can now be 3D printed.
This will transform manufacturing processes and create highly personalized products, all while eliminating waste and reducing costs. Additionally, it will decentralize manufacturing, reducing transportation and related pollution.

Is this enough? No!
We need to continue the same trend and more till 2050!
